What the numbers actually mean
Look at the middle figure. At 50x leverage a 2% move wipes out your entire margin — and 2% swings in crypto happen within an hour on an ordinary day. That is why experienced traders keep leverage at 3-5x and always set a stop-loss well before the liquidation price: a stop closes the position with part of the money left, liquidation takes all of it. Most beginners in futures lose money, and leverage is what turns a small mistake into a total loss. Nothing here is investment advice.
How this is calculated
Position size is your margin multiplied by leverage. The liquidation price is where losses eat your margin: for a long it sits roughly leverage-percent below entry, for a short the same distance above. The tool assumes isolated margin and a 0.5% maintenance margin rate — a typical figure for major pairs. Your exchange shows the exact number, which also depends on the coin, position size and fees, so treat this as a planning estimate rather than a precise trigger.
